City of Dallas Issues RFQ for Component 1 of the Kay Bailey Hutchison Convention Center Expansion

The City of Dallas Convention and Event Services Department (CES) released a Request for Qualifications (RFQ) for Component 1 of the Kay Bailey Hutchison Convention Center Dallas (KBHCCD) expansion project Monday, May 20, 2024. 

The RFQ invites architectural and engineering design (AED) firms to submit qualifications for the expansion of the convention center as outlined in component 1 of the KBHCCD Master Plan.The initial focus of the design work under the RFQ will specifically target the expansion west of Lamar Street, moving from conceptual to implementable designs. Other elements of component 1 will be handled separately.

The RFQ solicitation aligns with the City’s overarching objectives of fostering equity, sustainability, and economic growth while delivering a world-class convention center that strengthens community ties.   

All RFQ responses must be submitted through the City’s Bonfire portal by Friday, June 14, 2024 at 1 p.m. Pre-proposal meetings and an onsite walking/bus tour will follow the schedule below *, with meeting details posted on Bonfire:  

  • Monday, May 20: Release of Architectural & Engineering Design (AED) Services RFQ on Bonfire  

  • Thursday, May 23: Virtual Pre-proposal Meeting #1   

  • Friday, May 24: Onsite Walking and Bus Tour  

  • Wednesday, May 29: Pre-proposal Meeting #2   

  • Friday, May 31: Pre-proposal Meeting #3  

  • Friday, June 14: Due date for the AED RFQ .
